A Year of Music, Growth, and Community: 2025 at Wylie School of Music
We truly love what we do, and we’re incredibly fortunate to get to work with such an amazing group of students and families. Being part of our students’ musical journeys—watching them grow in confidence, skill, and joy—never gets old.
2025 was a special year at Wylie School of Music. It was filled with performances, confidence-building moments, community involvement, and countless examples of students stepping outside their comfort zones and growing through music.
We believe music education should go beyond weekly lessons. It should inspire confidence, create community, and give students real opportunities to share their music with others. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights that made 2025 such a memorable year.
Spring Recital
Our Spring Recital was many students’ first time performing in front of an audience. From beginners to more advanced players, each student set a goal, worked toward it, and experienced the reward of sharing their music with family and friends.
For parents, it’s often the moment they see just how much progress their child has made. For students, it’s a huge boost in confidence—and a reminder that hard work pays off.
Spring Rock Shop Show
Our Spring Rock Shop Show gave students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to play in a real band. They learned how to rehearse with others, listen, lock in rhythm, and perform as a team.
Rock Shop is about more than just learning songs—it’s about collaboration, accountability, and building musical friendships.
Summer Camps
Our summer camps were another highlight of the year. Camps give students the chance to immerse themselves in music for several days in a row—collaborating with other students, learning new skills, and building confidence in a fun, relaxed environment.
For many students, camp is where breakthroughs happen. They try new instruments, play with others, and often leave more motivated and excited about music than ever.
Summer Open Mic Night at Coffee on the Hub
One of the highlights of the summer was our Open Mic Night at Coffee on the Hub. Students performed in a public setting, chose their own songs, and experienced what it’s like to play for a wider audience.
This event was a huge confidence builder and a great example of how music connects students with the local community. Many students walked away proud, energized, and excited for what was next.
Boo on Ballard
We loved being part of Boo on Ballard in downtown Wylie. This fun, community-centered event gave students a relaxed and encouraging environment to perform while being part of a local tradition.
Fall Rock Shop Show
The Fall Rock Shop Show showcased just how much our students had grown since the spring. Bands were tighter, performances were more confident, and students showed a deeper understanding of timing, dynamics, and stage presence.
Watching students support one another and celebrate each other’s progress is one of the most rewarding parts of Rock Shop.
Fall Recital
Our Fall Recital was a powerful “look how far they’ve come” moment for students and families alike. Many students who were once nervous performers now walked on stage with confidence and excitement.
Recitals provide structure, motivation, and a clear goal—key ingredients for long-term success in music.
Downtown Wylie Christmas Music Performance
Following the Fall Recital, we were honored to be invited to bring a small group of students downtown to perform Christmas music for the Wylie community.
This festive performance gave students the chance to spread joy through music and experience how meaningful it can be to play for others during the holidays.
Performing for Grandbrook Memory Care
One of the most meaningful moments of the year was when our students performed for the residents at Grandbrook Memory Care.
Music has a unique ability to reach people, spark memories, and create emotional connections. Watching our students use their skills to bring joy and comfort to others was incredibly special—and a powerful reminder of why music matters.
Looking Ahead
As we look back on 2025, we’re incredibly proud of our students, grateful for our families, and thankful for the Wylie community that continues to support live music and music education.
If you’re looking for a music school where students grow not only as musicians, but as confident, engaged individuals, we’d love to welcome you into the Wylie School of Music family.
Here’s to more music, more growth, and more unforgettable moments ahead.
